Privacy
voqira is built to run on your iPhone. This page explains in detail what data the app uses, where it stays and when it connects to the internet.
Last updated: October 19, 2026
In short
We don’t collect personal data. There are no accounts, no usage analytics, no ads and no tracking. Audio, transcripts, summaries, people, your voiceprint and the search index stay on your device, and in iCloud Drive or Obsidian folders only if you choose them.
Who we are
The app is developed and published by Filippo Bonacina. For any privacy question, write to filippobonacina@protonmail.com.
Data that stays on your iPhone
Audio recordings, files you import, transcripts, summaries, suggested actions, people’s names and facts you choose to remember are saved in the app’s folder (Files › On My iPhone › voqira) or in the Obsidian folder you pick. They are processed by your iPhone’s chip with models installed on the device.
Your voiceprint is a numerical representation of your voice, used to recognize you. It stays on your iPhone, is excluded from backups and can be deleted at any time in Settings › Voiceprint.
App settings and the free‑trial status are stored on the device (the trial status in the iOS keychain).
Permissions the app asks for
Microphone: to record and dictate. Audio is transcribed on your iPhone.
Speech recognition: only if you choose Apple’s model in Settings; Apple runs it on the device.
Calendar and Reminders: to add the events and reminders you confirm. voqira doesn’t read your schedule for any other purpose.
Location: optional, only to title recordings with the name of the place. It stays on your iPhone.
The keyboard
The voqira keyboard asks for Full Access because iOS doesn’t let keyboards use the microphone: with Full Access it talks to the voqira app on the same iPhone, which records and transcribes. The keyboard doesn’t connect to the internet and doesn’t store or send what you type.
When the app connects to the internet
Model downloads: the first time you open it, and when you choose a new model, voqira downloads model files from Hugging Face (huggingface.co). As with any download, Hugging Face receives your device’s IP address. We don’t send your content.
Purchases: the subscription and the “Forever” purchase go through the App Store. Payment details are handled by Apple; we never see them.
iCloud Drive: if you turn on iCloud for voqira in iOS Settings, notes and audio are copied to your iCloud Drive, run by Apple under its own privacy policy. Voiceprints are not copied.
External links (for example model credits) open in your browser only when you tap them.
What we don’t do
We have no servers that receive your content. We don’t use third‑party analytics or tracking tools, show ads, sell or share data, or use your recordings to train models.
Crash reports
If you chose to share analytics with developers in iOS Settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. They don’t contain your recordings.
Retention and deletion
Your data stays as long as you keep it. You can delete single recordings in the app, delete your voiceprint in Settings, or delete the app: iOS removes the On My iPhone › voqira folder. Copies in iCloud Drive or Obsidian are your files, managed from Files.
Your rights
Because we keep no personal data on our systems, we have no data to show, correct or erase: you control it on your device. For any request under the GDPR you can still write to filippobonacina@protonmail.com, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Children
voqira is not specifically aimed at children and collects nobody’s data.
Changes
If anything changes in how the app handles data, we update this page and the date above.
